Steve Basset was sent to prison for eight years in solitary confinement for assaulting two women. Bassett was known for having behavior; he assaulted guards, attacked inmates with razor blades. A prison official confirmed that Basset was a serious threat to other inmates and the prison employees. On August 11, 2010, Bassett left prison to serve five years on parole; for the first 180 days, he had intensive supervision with an electronic monitor. Basset lasted two months on the streets before he was convicted of kidnapping and murdering a man. Bassett returned to prison for life and was sent back to solitary confinement.
