Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, has passed away at the age 55. Business Insider, July 13, 2015 reported the cause of death was a bile duct growth. Last year, Satoru Iwata had surgery to remove the growth. He came through the operation very well and went back to work after a short recovery period. Satoru Iwata was born in Sapporo, Japan, on December 6, 1959. His career in the corporate planning division with Nintendo started in June 2000, when he was appointed as Director of Nintendo. May 2002, Hiroshi Yamauchi retired Nintendo’s third president, a position he held since 1949. Satoru was appointed to take his place as president and Representative Director. Then in June 2013 Satoru was appointed as CEO of Nintendo of America Inc. However,
