Sport events are usually for enjoyment and competition, and usually aims to improve; but what is the difference between increasing skill and performance in training, and taking drugs? Any competition can be unfair. Whether it is for an athlete using the advantage of performance enhancing drugs, or an athlete that is constantly training with a coach or even training in the gym for many days straight. We, the sports fans, do not want to continue paying a high amount of money to witness our favorite professional athlete complete the same task over and over again. We want to watch these athletes succeed and watch them complete these tasks while they're succeeding and achieving what has not been achieved before.
Some people do not agree that steroids should be legalized. Most people would not agree to steroids in professional sports because it has a negative effect on your long-term health. “There is nothing fundamentally wrong or ethically objectionable to PEDs” (Mehlman 1). The athletes that take steroids are considered “cheating”, “taking the easy way out”, or even that it is an “unfair advantage”. The amount of ibuprofen athletes take for a cramp or even a headache has people viewing at that as the right thing to do. Talking about the use of PEDs for a serious injury is shamed upon because others believe they are cheating. Joe Root is a pro-am motocross rider from Los Angeles. Breaking his femur and shattering his hip Joe was told by an orthopedic surgeon, he would not be able to race for about 9-12 months. Using a growth hormone that was monitored regularly by his doctor, he was able to return back to racing in just 8
