When it does appear in my social media, facebook, the word feminism served as an insult to label someone who is fragile or offensive against certain topics as for example the main topic, women’s right. Often in the comments section, I see men discussing how feminists complain too much, when in reality, women have the right to speak out. I found out how wrong many individuals were when talking about women who want to stand up for themselves and make a change towards a better world. I realized how the meaning of feminism is misunderstood when people interpret the word as the exact opposite. As the same was mentioned in the novel how “ I should never call myself a feminist since feminists are women who are unhappy because they cannot find husbands. So I decided to call myself a Happy feminist.” (17)The author didn’t understand what the word feminist meant, so she followed on what the man was explaining and tried to change it to have an opposite meaning by placing happy. The individuals who used the word feminist as a label had wrongfully started a misunderstanding. The word feminist wasn’t at all associated with what was occurring in this argument.
