The most significant findings of the examination on college students are that images of older women are perceived more positively than those of older men. Also, compared with sketches of older men, sketches of elderly women are more likely to be viewed positively in character and to depict smiles, but less likely to be shown with walking aids. Also, women are more likely to experience anxiety than men about declines in cognitive and physical abilities. In this study, some college students viewed elderly people as being sad and lonely. This study focuses on the difference between both genders’ perceptions on elderly people, while the old people study does not.
