Women's savages of the roads fact or fiction. Stereotypes have been passed down from generation to generation. Stereotypes can be absorbed at any age, and influence from media, parents, peers, and teachers all play a part. Stereotypes also have the power to change how people are perceived and interact with one another. An example of a stereotype would be that all rich people are considered stuck up and selfish. This stereotype might have been that way back in the day; however, the truth is that people like Bill Gates donate millions to humanitarian causes, and his generosity proves the stereotype untrue. However, the times have changed and women have joined the workforce. It would be very rare to see a woman driving in the 1950s, but modern women travel all over the highways, and in many instances, women even serve as truck drivers. Women are given a bad rap due to the stereotypes and misconceptions about their driving skills. Women are said to have a lack of attention, but this misconception really has no basis in reality. In the online article Octagon, Are Women Better Drivers? States that, The University of Bradford conducted a study that introduces conclusive evidence that estrogen tends to give women a longer attention span than men.For example, women are more likely to follow the posted speed limit and wear their seat belts compared men. This a glimpse of why women are better drivers due to the fact that men tend to get distracted by their surroundings and also tend to disregard for rules that are enforced to protect themselves and others. In an online article by Cheap Car Insurance, 13 reasons why women are better drivers than men states that women have a much better ability to learn rules than men do. This fact is also attributed to the hormone estrogen, and could explain why female drivers tend to be cited for far fewer traffic violations than men. Their are some bad woman driver however this is true for any group of drivers. Driving like a women is often considered a insulte due to the fact that no male driver wants to drive safe. Safe is considered boring and un cool. Another common stereotype is women are considered inexperienced drivers and get distracted by social media.
