If it’s a girl, we decorate and buy everything with pink, flowers and butterflies. The assumption that she will be very girly, playing with dolls and wearing dresses. We raise her to be a stereotypical woman who wears makeup and carries a purse. We do the same to our boys, buying everything blue with trucks, cars, and sports. We assume that he’ll play sports and be into cars. Stereotypically he’ll grow up to be an athlete or the president of the United States.
Homosexuality:
The biggest stereotypes in our society of homosexuality are the idea that gay men are overly feminine and lesbians are overly masculine. While there are those that fit into that category we are wrong to assume that all gay men and all lesbians fit into that stereotype. Just we are wrong to assume that all girls love pink and are girly or all boys love sports.

Reality Male homosexuality is commonly linked with femininity. Although there are some gay men who express themselves in ways that are traditionally feminine, there are other gay men who do not. The assumption that all gay men display the same type of feminine gender behavior is a problem that occurred due to the circumstance that the gay men that are “out” are often meeting the feminine stereotype.
The truth of the matter is that there are different types of gay men. In fact, there are the flamboyant, feminine men who wear make-up, carry purses, idolize Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, say “yass!” or “hey girl hey!”, and vogue dance. There are also masculine gay men who do not wear their pride on their sleeves. Then you have the ladies’ man, who works out in the gym daily, has a good job in a big company or even an athlete or a singer. He often serves as eye candy to the female population.
The Reality Even with these stereotypes that we fit people in, we still are wrong to assume that just because a person possesses certain behaviors and characteristics that means that they are a part of a particular group of people. For example, just because a girl enjoys sports and sneakers does not necessarily mean she is a lesbian. And if a boy happens to enjoy fashion more than he does sports does not mean he is gay. Sexuality is more complex than stereotypes
