Sexism, in other words gender discrimination is as stated: the discrimination of a person based on their sex, male or female. However sexism goes beyond simple discrimination, the belief of inferiority or superiority based on sex is also a form of sexism as well as stereotypes that are a part of sexism. The most focused place for sexism is the workforce, the main focus of controlling sexism is around sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexism is everywhere, it is important to realize that both genders are discriminated against, both males and females. Many people do not realize or find any significant damage sexism causes. Sexism is everywhere and is very often ignored or turned a blind eye due to the under-education of the topic.

Examples of sexism include actions like choosing a male worker for a project that a female worker could be equally or even more qualified to perform. Hiring a male rather than a female due solely on the basis of sex and the infamous wage gap of a male and female with equal entry levels are also the most known sexism acts. The difficulty in identifying sexism causes other sorts of discrimination, choosing a man to do a project over a woman might be looked at as sexist, hiring a man over a woman would be looked at as sexist, especially if those actions were done by a male higher up. Although not usual, privileging a woman simply because she is a woman in the workplace is a form of sexism
