Stereotypes are automatically referred to against Muslims when we see them in public. Stereotypes is a cognition process; we judge someone based on the group of people they belong to whether it has to do with the race or religion. However, most of the time stereotypes can be wrong, because the person you assume things about might not act upon it. In this situation, the terrorist attacks on Paris impacted Muslims by displaying the use of stereotypes. Since the militant group claims to be part of the Islamic faith and all the attackers have common Muslim names, it creates a negative view on the rest of the Muslim population. People in public with Muslim names, or dressed up with clothes such as the hijab, based on the faith, can be neglected and assumed that they are associated with terrorism activities. Innocent Muslim men who dress in religious attire often get beaten to critical condition or even death. Conformity is when a person accepts the behavior and acts according to the accepted norms rather than acting upon what they believe in. When a hijabi girls’, head scarf is forcefully taken off in public, no one seems to help her and protest against it. Instead people just follow what others around her and act based upon what the majority believes. After the Paris attacks, people in the United States has vandalized mosques and burned the holy book quran, shaming on the religion itself. People believe that Islam allows mass murder, and terrorism is associated with this religion. Sadly, the media portrays all the negative things about Islam along with adding in more bogus, making people all around the world believe what they see and act based upon that. Muslims often do not get their voices
