There are stereotypes such as women cannot drive or all Asians are smart and it changes the way we see all women and Asians. Stereotypes can create psychological pressure because it makes people worry about their performance and how they look. It makes them worry about what they are doing and how they are doing it because they hate the criticism and are afraid of failure. People who isolate themselves from others for fear of being judged and they begin to trust others less. They wonder if they are doing what others see as the right thing and they become anxious, irritated or upset and it may even lead to depression. Stereotypes are often mistaken with misconceptions but are actually quite different. Misconceptions are different from stereotypes but are formed from them, they are views that are incorrect based on incorrect truths. An example of this is from world history where it is said that Napoleon was an unusually short ruler. In reality, he is not short because there was a difference in the measurements between France and Britain. France measured him to be five feet and two inches while Britain measured him as five feet and six inches, Britain's measurement was much more accurate. Napoleon was slightly taller than the average Frenchman instead of the short ruler everyone made him out to be. The gamers who spend endless hours on the weekends or even on school days playing the newest games, sometimes even skipping out on school just to play and even go so far as to play for three consecutive days. They are the ones seen spending their time chasing after the ladies or if they are lucky, are the ones being chased. They are seen as the ones who never seem to cry when getting hurt physically or do not seem devastated over a breakup. Teen boys are seen as the ones who have a cool hobby such as playing guitar or skateboarding with friends or maybe even paint-balling. But they are also broken up into smaller stereotyped groups like the ones seen in those typical teenage movies. We see the nerds who tend to be loners, keeping mostly to themselves or spending their time studying, the jocks who walk around in crowds wearing their letterman jackets or sports related attire, the emos or goths who wear black or wear band T-shirts and listen to heavy metal and rock music.
