In an article by Judd, Bernadette Park, Ryan, Kraus (1995), studied the variations of “ethnocentrism perceptions” of African American youth, they included White Americans as well. During the time of the article they announced that little information was directly towards the culture of African Americans. The research suggested that culture was artificial, meaning that groups that belong to certain categories were being studied. This lead us to believe that during this time period, African American were still being processed as a race and not a culture. There method of the study took information from the group to determine their biases towards the opposite group. They used several stages of data collection to determine the overall sample size. The final result of participants included twenty-five African Americans and equal counterpart of white Americans. One of the limitations we found of this study was the fact that they also had to use a control group of what they claimed as artificial culture in order to be safe and get results needed. There was also a preconceived notion that African American would for sure pin point white Americans to be stereotypical, against African American. In this study it is clear to see that society has played a role in how we view others not in our same group per say. The years of conflict between the two ethnic groups has not
