I understand that black men have it rough in society, and that they have to put on this mask that everything is good but in reality it’s not. We are to believe that our roles are to be domestic, submissive, nurturing, supporting, and etc., but who are we to limit ourselves to just those things. During slavery times, more black mothers were seen as mammies because they took better care of white children then of their own children which made them then bad mothers to their own. Black women are seen as Jezebels such as thots, hoes, and etc., or matriarchs which is a bad mother, manless, aggressive, emasculating or the welfare mother who’s lazy, bad mother, dependents on the government. I don’t understand why they have to be stereotyped as bad mothers, it just depends on the situation their in and how they handle it.
