The counselor would not judge the client from the past issues or based on stereotypes. A counselor, cannot assume that all persons from a certain background believe in a certain religious or will behave a certain way. Counselors have to be caring towards others. They have to be able to emphasize with their clients. A counselor has to be able to place themselves in their client shoes, they will have a better understanding of how their client is feeling. Lastly, a counselor has to be healthy enough to take care of their client. If the counselor isn’t healthy physically or emotionally than they might cause more damage to their client.
