All kids were either enrolled in a daycare or a preschool. The materials within this study were sixteen different toys to help create a stimulus. Some of the toys were considered “masculine”, some of the toys were kept their original color and other toys had their colors altered. Other toys were considered “feminine” where some remained their original color and others had their colors altered. The dependent variable within this study was the toys that the children would play with after the independent variable was introduced, changing the colors of the toys. This study was measured by asking how much the children liked the toy, the scale consisted of options such as not at all, a little bit and a lot (Weisgrama et. al., 2014).
