Sherman Alexie was alone in school because of all the dumb stereotypes, but if he had never been alone because of those pesky stereotypes, he would have never persevered and became the person he is today. I read books late into the night, until I could barely keep my eyes open. I read books at recess, then during lunch, and in the few minutes left after I had finished my classroom assignments. Sherman Alexie was alone in school because kids were mean. He didn’t like all the mean kids, and since he was alone all the time, he had time to study. He studied harder than anyone in the school. All he wanted was to not be what everyone thought of him. He fought by himself for himself. Being alone in school made it possible for Sherman to thrive and defy the stereotypes and become the amazing author that he is today. If he would have not been alone in school, his future might’ve looked a little different than it does today. Sherman Alexie was stereotyped, while Anna Kendrick became the weird, quirky, funny person she is today because of being alone. Anna was alone and becoming an actress. She was around other actors that were snobby and stuck-up and she wanted nothing else except to not be like them, so she tried to stay away from them and be her own person. “I get embarrassed about being a “child actor.” Probably because I spent a lot of time around child actors when I was one. They’re crazy.” Anna hated other child actors. They were snobby, stuck up, and high-strung. She wanted to be nothing like them. She tried so hard to be fun and happy at all times. She didn’t have any other acting friends to show her the way of being a child actor, so she figured it out on her own. She was alone and she liked it because she didn’t like anyone else. She liked to figure it out and be her own special person. Since she was able to figure it out on her own, she became the quirky funny person that we love

Your cartoon Ed, Edd, n Eddy was a great success and had a major influence on children at the ages of 6 -10, but I want to warn you about the stereotypes that misled young and impressionable boys and girls. All of your characters portray gender and/or racial stereotypes which can cause a commotion with some of the child's parents. Today, marginalized groups are painfully aware of the outsider status they’ve been assigned by the majority. Pop culture consistently represents the “Typical American” as being white, middle or upper class, Christian, heterosexual, usually male, and able-bodied. Our American government reflects these same qualities as well; in “115th Congress Sets New High for Racial, Ethnic Diversity,” The Pew Research Center wrote that in the most diverse Congress yet, only “one of five” of the members are of an ethnic minority (Bialik et al.). Though perhaps not deliberate, the domination of characteristics such as these represent a larger issue in our society, one of prejudice.…
