Argumentative Essay: Flat Out Racism

Flat Out Racist
“India is the smelliest place on Earth”
“Have you been there?”
“No. Just Guessing”
The “Flat Out Racist” will say something extremely racist and not feel any guilt. They are proud of what they say and nothing will change their mind. They tend to back up their crazy comments with absurd statistics from unreliable news sources. You respectfully listen to their opinion, but as soon as you respond they interrupt with one-liners that add nothing to the conversation. After an ISIS attack last year, I had a conversation with a couple people about the tragedy when someone uttered,
(“Flat Out Racist”) “We know your people did it”
(Me) “What do you me-
(“Flat Out Racist”) “Your Muslim buddies”
(Me) “...”
These people are the combination of the previous two racists. They use general stereotypes and insults for whatever they say. They have no common courtesy, but they are usually honest about who they are. They admit that they are racist. After the 2016 presidential election, I was in lunch when I spotted a student yelling at two ethnic students,
(Trump Supporter) “Get ready to get deported!”
(Ethnic Student 1) “Why would I get deported?”
(Trump Supporter) “Cause you’re not from here”
(Ethnic Student 2) “You realize that we are both U.S Citizens”

The Flat Out Racist are the minority of racists, but the Flat Out Racist will feature on news channels for their extreme behavior. Somehow I prefer the Flat Out Racist over the Insulter. The Flat Out Racist does not hide their feelings. They speak their mind. I respect that more than others who keep their thoughts to themselves and only speak where they cannot get in trouble. I understand who the Flat Out Racists are and I know to stay away from them, but racists like the Insulter are hard to unravel. You might never know who they truly are until they hit you with a racist

In Morgan Freeman’s statement on racism, often quoted on the subject of racism, simply states “To stop racism, we need to stop talking about it.”, and the holds much truth. The idea that Morgan Freeman touches upon by saying “stop talking about it” is that we’ve exploded racism to such a dramatic point it's become oversaturated. Not just has the topic become oversaturated, it's become so divided on where people take a stance on racism, and how to address it. Today, whenever people discuss racism, even bringing it up can be called racist, even when it is simply being called into a discussion on racism. To elaborate, place such as online forums, youtube comments, etc can boast pretty explosive talks on racism, to the point of death threats…

In the article I, Racist by John Metta, there are two views regarding racism in the US. The first one is the common White people’s view that they do not admit that they are racist. This view exists because of the fact that racism is getting subtler yet still impactful. The reason for this is because White people now do not have to deal with racism; they are the one in the advantaged position. From the condition that they are in, they interpret that racism does not exist anymore, and responded by not talking and admitting about the truth that they are racist.…

Kristen Myers dedicated this book to the discussion of what she calls “racetalk.” She defines racetalk as “the vocabulary and conceptual frameworks that we use to denigrate different races and ethnicities in our everyday lives” (pg. 2). In this book, she defines the signification of three groups: whites, blacks and browns. It is important that she defines the signification of each group in order to better understand what gives the dominant group its power. The book then moves on to how boundaries are constructed and policed in order to keep this structure of dominance by whites, how this system is justified, and examines how this system can be challenged and changed.…

Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, and Sandra Bland, what does all these people have in common? They have all lost their lives due to racial injustices and inequality. Although slavery ended 150 years ago, and segregation ended around 51 years ago, the relationship between African Americans and whites have steadily been filled with injustice and oppression. In Brownies by ZZ Packer, is a story about a younger group of girl scouts (one African American group and one Caucasian group) campers who has a slight experience with racism. At the end of the story, the narrator, Laurel (also known as Snot) says, “There is something mean in this world and I can not stop it.…

How racism has changed America for the worse Intro Racism, the prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race is a very touchy subject in the media today, as race is a very vague word with different meanings to different people and racism overall, can be many things. Race can be tied to a person’s origin, language, skin color, place of birth etc. and differs from place to place. For example, Americans view the country of Rwanda to have one race, but the 2 main groups, the Hutus and the Tutsi view themselves as two different races. Racism still seems to be present in 2017 and ranges from a misconception due to a stereotype to the biggest authority in the United States deeming a large group of people as “rapists and criminals”. But how does racism start is the real question.…

Subtle racist is defined as a racial discrimination that is hard to notice. According to Shabbir et al., (2013) found in their study that “subtle racial is bias in which is racism that operates below the threshold of awareness. Subsequently called modern racism, aversive racism, and ambivalent racism, subtle racial bias have become synonymous with covert racism, which refers to ‘‘those subtle and subversive practices, policies and norms utilized to mask structural racial apparatus”. Therefore, subtle racist is being racist discrimination without being noticed.…

    Race Argumentative Essay

Back in 1950s anthropologists discovered that race was just a myth. Why should we be divided by race in the first place? When you watched the news you see all these Caucasian cops shooting African Americans that have guns or fighting back with the cops causing a riot over racism, but when the tables are turned around and an African American cop shoots a Caucasian guy that clearly is following the law and has his hands up it doesn't show up on the news because supposedly that is okay and not racism. Race is a "scientific fact" because I believe there is no such thing because we shouldn't be judged on our color, race is supposed to tell us something about our genetic history. In biological terms, race is the process of evolution and the origin of species, it is a part of the formation of the new species and differentiations.…
