Stereotypes In American Libraries

While trying to figure out how to start this discussion piece, I came across an article called “The Stereotype Stereotype,” by the American Libraries. The article reviews the transition of the library field from a male dominated field to a female dominated one in the 20th century. As a male individual looking to enter the library field, I haven’t given thought to the stereotypes. I think it would be quite interesting to identify the modern stereotypes of male librarians in American culture today. Has the stereotype of male femininity changed in the 21st century? Is it more difficult to enter the field today as a male because of past or existing stereotypes?
