Stereotypes: Fantasy Vs. Reality

Whenever I read Theo Priestlys’ comment of “social media is rapidly becoming as bad as smoking for the human condition,” I would have to say I agree with that sentiment because you can just see that people lose their own individual touch on life, and also most importantly they lose the aspect of fantasy vs reality. Particularly, when someone on social media posts a picture or a comment they don’t always post what they really want to say but they post what others would like them to say. For example, when most people post something online their first thought is, “how many likes am I going to get?” Also they might be thinking to themselves will I get any backlash for what I post, or will there be any confrontation. reality, because say a celebrity or someone of “high social status,” posts something positive or something to the nature of a vacation trip, or even their success. When they do that they’re putting it out to their fans, and even the whole world to see. When they do this, it is pure fantasy because it only shows the positive things in their life, but truly they go through everyday struggles just like everyone in the entire world does. When you are on social media people only post about the things in their lives that are positive. In reality, life for nobody is going to be a walk in the park or a dream as some people on social media put their life out to be, in fact everyone will go through a rough time or a dark moment in their life because that is the reality of life. Social media for some is a way to make their life look perfect and show only positive moments such as going to the beach, traveling around the world, seeing exotic animals, driving exotic cars, etc. This whole statement of people saying “he has the perfect life” or “she has the world made for her” is complete B.S, because just like you and me we all live the same day on earth and each of us will have a rough patch, and some will have more rough patches than
