As most teenagers do when there together is poke fun at each other, my friends of course would crack jokes that I just crossed the boarder or I that I run drugs through it. At that time i thought nothing of it but thinking back at it now it feels wrong that toady's youth thinks its okay to generalize an ethnicity. If we are ever going to move past stereotyping we have start in the early generations and teach them its not okay to prejudge a person based on their ethnicity or skin color.
Most if not all people of color have had an experience with racial profiling which you could say is the little brother of racial stereotyping. The main difference between the two is that profiling is used by law enforcement. Over the past few years we have had a major problem with racial profiling among law enforcement to the point where the peoples frustration has taken them to the streets to protest this injustice. There have been many cases in which racial profiling has caused death, for example the American civil liberties union quotes a study by UCLA stating “participants(officers) fired on an armed target more quickly when the target was African American than when White, and decided not to shoot an unarmed target more quickly when the target was White than when African American”. These preconceived notions that African Americans are more violent and dangerous have caused more African Americans to lose their lives to cops or others who fear this dangerous
