One day as promised if she passed her spelling test, a young girl and her parents made a special visit to McDonald's. The little girl had to use the restroom when the family arrived to the restaurant. The parents ordered food for themselves and told the cashier, “I would like to also order a happy meal for my daughter”. By the time the family’s order number was called, the little girl was already out of the restroom. The family went to sit down and eat, but the girl was disappointed when she opened the bag of the meal. She had got the happy meal toy of a disney princess. With this statement it is understood that stereotypes are not always the reality of a person and that they can be harmful. Every single person can be stereotyped based off of one part of them or another. Stereotypes, can take effect over someone’s race, religion, age, nationality, sexual orientation, occupation, and/or gender. Gender is one of the most stereotyped aspects of a person's identity. I believe that stereotypes will become less of a problem within society. If we look at the rapid increase of acceptance within the recent years on controversial topics, it is evident that the next hundred years will most likely follow this pattern. Within the past recent years, public attitudes have become more accepting towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community than the world has ever been. In June of 2015, The United States of America has legalised same sex marriage in every state. This shows the dramatic increase towards acceptance beyond the so called norms. As well, the United States is gradually becoming more gender neutralized one step at a time. Stores are beginning to make toys, apparel, and decorations more gender neutral colors. Another factor, companies are doing to make a wider acceptance is by showing that boys and girls can play with any and all toys that peak the child’s interest. More evidence of gender neutralization within the public world includes restrooms. Many schools, such as Yale are introducing “gender inclusive” restrooms. As well, Harvard is including gender neutral housing. Clearly, society is trying to make a change for the better and this movement will only increase in the future. However, this does not mean the world will be complete and utterly gender neutralized in one hundred years. There is currently some backlash towards these controversial ideas. That is what
