The Mexican Americans worked in harsh working conditions were pesticides being sprayed while workers were working. There was no water for the workers and no breaks. Mexican Americans were paid low wages for work. Schaefer (2015) conveys, “Their fellow Mexicans use Mexican workers as cheap laborers in their own country, and Americans use them here as cheap labor or as undocumented workers and then dismiss them when they are no longer useful (Guerin-Gonzales 1994)”.
