A stereotype is an exaggerated truth, but is often not true in reality. Even when one doesn’t believe the stereotype when seeing it or hearing it constantly, it gets perpetrated in one’s mind and makes it difficult to learn new concepts. For example, one of the most common stereotypes is “men are stronger than women and do all the work.” This statement is an example of an exaggerated fact, because men are portrayed as buff and strong, which they usually are, but women are just as strong although they are not buff. An example of a common misconception is “those who read books are nerds.” This would be considered a misconception because there is no support for the truth and is just an assumption with no study. Whether people believe the stereotypes and misconceptions or not they have always been there and will still forever be if not taken the time to question the truths about these specific
