A statistic show in Clair Gordon’s article that in a study done in 2009 that only 8 percent of veterans 25 and older did not have their diplomas compared to 15 percent of the population as a whole, Gordon also gave another statistic that 19 percent of the civilian population think that Afghanistan veterans are more educated than them in a fairly recent survey done by Veterans Advocacy Group, The Missions Continues, and Bad Robot. That may carry on to a job in the civilian world and along with movements that get that government more involved as well with new groups and organizations that help veterans both financially, physically, and mentally. This stereotype need to be forgotten and extracted from what we think a veterans knowledge actually is, for only only the slightest thing may actually be correct about how they are unknowledgeable and unskilled to do anything else other than fight. This misconception has been around for so long it should be executed soon with the improvement of living in the veterans and I hope a least a newer more accurate will be born from its carcass. Veterans need to be better understood because they are not dumb and should be treated as such because all of them have some smarts that got them into the military. They need for this misconception to stop for it is getting in the way of them getting a job and making them
