Al Qaeda Communication Strategy
Al Qaeda main message is fixated on justified violence. As they believe terrorism is necessary for the jihad, against non-believers. This message allows Al Qaeda to concentrate propaganda toward the Muslim populations, in an endeavor to create a relationship between violence and being a devout Muslim. Al Qaeda uses several online magazines to broadcast its strategy to massive audiences. In Sawt al-Jihad (Voice of Jihad), an article’s author focuses on mobilizing Muslims to commit jihad. In another online magazine, Mu'askar al-Battar (Camp of the Sword), an article covered online recruiting and suggested that new members should remain in their local surroundings after being recruited. With the guidelines of telling new members to remain in place, this allows Al Qaeda the ability to commit future acts of terrorism. This group also has online supporters that operate autonomously, further distribute links to sites and propaganda, and maintain loosely aligned sites that produce lower quality propaganda.
