Stereotypes In My Community

I have lived in a community where drugs was an issue for a lot of people, Nanakuli. My biological father turned into a drug addict. Seeing him getting sucked into the darkness affected me emotionally and mentally. It all started when my father started hanging out with the wrong group of friends. His group of friends would always smoke in front of him and offering him drugs. This community where I used to live was like the bottom of the pit. There are many stereotypes about this community in particular, but they are not all true. It puts labels about how a person should act or live according to their sex or race and other factors. These stereotypes have led many to get caught up in drugs because that is all they think they are good for.

The conflict in the community became urgent many years ago and has not been resolved completely. The community is more than what the stereotypes says. Nanakuli is filled with many intelligent people who have good heads on their shoulders. The community is slowly changing the negative stereotypes into positive ones, such as not settling for less, but going beyond it. This positive feedback

There are so many lessons that I have gained through this experience. The most important lesson I have learned is to not judge others or label them. We do not know what someone goes through in their life. Everyone walks their own path in their own shoes. It is better to be humble and keep your head down rather than being judgmental and criticizing others. Being humble can create fewer people to feel sorry for themselves and not turning to drugs for a solution. Experiencing this conflict in my community has changed me in many ways. My outlook on people and life has changed since then, I now do not judge people 's choices that they decide to make. I keep an open mind when it comes to everything because there are many different aspects you can look at a
