When directors make a film based off of a historical event, it’s often questioned whether or not the information they provide for their story is an accurate representation of what really happened: especially if the film was a Disney production, which is targeted towards younger viewers. In the movie Pocahontas, British settlers sailed to the New World in the ship Susan Constant, in search for rumored gold and riches in Virginia, 1607. On the rigorous journey overseas, they lost many men during a violent storm. When they arrived, they immediately began their search for gold.…

The segment from “Duck Amuck”(Jones,1953) that I will be analyzing is when the artist appointed Daffy as a pilot(5:46). The artist draws him sitting as pilot in a red airplane, flying through a blue sky with white cloud outlines. As Daffy’s making circles through the sky, the camera moves forward & shows the artist drawing a mountain. The camera then moves forward once again, while an off screen air crash is heard. Daffy then re-appears on-screen with the body of his airplane missing, with him hovering under the glass screen and holding onto the wheel.…

While this is just a small part of the movie, it lets the audience finally feel at ease after all that Chihiro has been through. Albeit it looked grim for Chihiro to speak with No-Face she went in any way dodging any attempt at being greedy or rude until she is forced to run out. No-Face is overtaken by anger and chases Chihiro out of the bathhouse into the water. However, when he goes into the water, he is reborn changing into a friendly spirit without anger. Certainly to some viewers they could see this as a boring part of the movie it serves many larger purposes which brings the audience further into the film and lets them feel everything that the characters feel.…

However, the film certainly embellishes the storyline with more drama than what can be found in Biblical text. While the relationship between Xerxes and Esther is stable and even genuine in the Bible, the relationship between them in the film is much more unpredictable. As Esther and Xerxes’s rocky relationship continues to unfold, the audience is drawn into the film. This is because, in American culture today, we tend to thrive on drama. It sets our heat racing to watch two lovers fight with one and and breakup not only to find love and harmony again in the end.…

The poor in American Society are the victims of the social theory referred to as CONFLICT THEORY. The theory explains that the social STRATIFICTION SYSTEM is not functioning properly and the rich benefit more from the governmental decisions at the expense of the disadvantaged, those who rightly need the assistance. This theory is shockingly apparent in the Frontline documentary “Poor Kids”. This film follows the lives of three families’ struggling to deal with life’s most crippling situations the best way they can. The film demonstrates that being poor is not always a question of a PERSONAL PROBLEM related to the ABUSE of drugs or alcohol, but of a SOCIAL PROBLEM with unemployment, lack of job opportunities, and in this particular film, recession.…

Spirited Away rightfully qualifies as Hayao Miyazaki’s magnum opus, winning fifty-two awards after its release in 2001. The movie describes a young girl’s journey of trepidation and discovery after becoming trapped in the spirit world. There, an almost byzantine story unfolds containing complex relationships, unwritten rules and profuse emotions. As with any work of this scale, a mosaic of themes and motifs riddles the production, but I wish to discuss one of the major “paths” we, as the audience, can follow and extrapolate from: the process of maturity.…
