As we have been on our Lenten pilgrimage, and have moved into Holy Week, we have been into the wilderness, disrupted the temple, and now we are staring at a cross and the impending arrest, betrayal, and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I think of the beautiful Sacramento that flows with tears and heart break. I think of Stephon Clark, the latest hashtag across the United States. Like Jesus, he too would be betrayed. The system that we have placed our trust in for so many years did wrong and left another unarmed black man dead. Left for another family to grieve. Brokenness that has betrayed people of color since Jim Crow and slavery before. A country that has failed to recognize the value of black and brown bodies. A nation that has taken the life of Sandra Bland, Rekia Boyd, Tamir Rice, Alton Sterling, Oscar Grant, and countless other men, women, and non-binary individuals of

He admits that he likes watching the couple eat, pray and read their bible just as much as he likes watching her naked in the shower. One night, he watched them argue and the wife cries. THE VALUE OF GODLY PARENTS Of all the possessions you own, what is the most valuable thing you hope to pass down to your children? Family heirlooms are special, but how many individuals would be willing to trade all they ever inherited from their parents for the chance to speak to them just one more time? John 13:13 Ye call Me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am The curious thing about Our Lord is that He never insists on our obedience. When we begin to usurp authority and say “You must” and “you shall” it is a sure sign that we are out of touch with the supreme Authority.…

Throughout history there have been different causes and unjust laws that have ignited the need for civil disobedience. I am an Afro-Latina living in the United States, and growing up I have been aware of both the struggles that Hispanics and Black-Americans face living in America. I feel most connected to the civil rights of these minority groups because I myself am one of them. That is why I fully believe in the act of civil disobedience for equality, not only for Hispanics and Black-Americans, but for all minorities in America who have been subject to discrimination or an injustice because of their gender, ethnicity or religious affiliation. I’d like to start with the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement.…

This is considered to be the greatest act of redemption in the New Testament when God gave His one and only perfect son to die on a cross so that we might one day live with God for eternity. Jesus spent His life on earth revealing Himself as the Savior of the world to both the Jews and the Gentiles. Jesus performed many miracles; healing the sick and diseased, raising the dead to life, casting out of demons, and controlling nature. By coming from the line of David, Jesus showed that He had control to be the king God had chosen to lead Israel. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are able to be reconnected with God in heaven while on earth.…

The upper room discourse plays a significant role in defining love in the Gospel. Moloney notes that Jesus acts love out through washing the feet of the disciples (13:1–38), discusses it with his disciples (15:12–17), and prays for it (17:1–26). This provides context and definition for Jesus’s death as an act of…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…

Introduction into this book and videos covers how we need to set long term goals, but before doing so we need to ask ourselves some questions. Before we can set those goals we should seek to know Christ. This can be done by reading the four gospels and seeing what Jesus did, what we can learn from him, and how does it relate to us? Jesus’ last commandment was to go and make disciples, and while principles never change, our methods have to change in order to reach the current generation, and each beyond. As we get into the chapters we learn that men are God’s method and while they may seem unlearned or ignorant by man’s standards, God uses those willing to learn and raises them into leadership.…
