Stephen King wrote “Why We Crave Horror Films” in order to rationalize why humans lust for horror movies. King begins the essay by discussing his belief that all humans are mentally ill. King later goes on to explain the main reasons the audience claims as to why they attend horror movies. There is more of a reason to go besides having fun and proving how brave one can be. King speculates that people go view these chiller movies to renew what is typically considered normal; moreover, these types of movies present “psychic relief” and forces the viewers to analyze in “black and white”.
