Pathos: "When we pay our four or five bucks and seat ourselves at tenth-row center in a movie theater showing a horror movie, we are daring the nightmare." - This section comes across as pathos, because "we daring our nightmare" as King put it, brings out a plethora of emotion. From being so scared to where you have the sensation of peeing on yourself, to having the feeling of joy and laughter, scary movies bring it all.
Ethos: "Why? Some of the reasons are simple and obvious. To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride this roller coaster." - This section is Ethos because King's justification of why, we as individuals, challenge ourselves and others with these emotional wrecking activities. Not only that, but I strongly agreed with King's theory. When analyzing what King said, it makes perfect sense. Think about the feeling you get when you see a preview for a new scary movie. You get all hyped and call all of your friends and explain to them how you all must go see the movie. The day for you all to go see it comes; after watching it, all of you are hyped on adrenaline and explaining your favorite parts and which parts were the scariest. Why do we do this?
