By watching a horror movie they can feel younger and and go back to a time when they did not have so many responsibilities. Stephen king says that the black and white feachers are what makes the adults feel more younger, when they them self are less imicher and found more this to be funny and interesting.
There is a joke that Stephen king heard from a ten year old, the joke reads, “What’s the difference between a truckload of bowling balls and a truckload of dead babies?” “(You can’t unload a truckload of bowling balls with a pitchfork”. This joke shows how, (no matter the person) mentally ill people are, both the person who said the joke and the person who laughed. By feeling some kind of emotions to a joke such as this one, it shows that an illness does exist it in the minds of people.
So in all, yes I do think that people are mentally ill, to an extent. To like something that is ill such as horror movies requires some to be ill in some way. The fact that we are also seeing this in kids show that mentally illness is not just reserved to adults and older kids. The pitchfork joke would probably be the most disturbing thing I read in Stephen king’s paper, but I also had little gigl over it, so I did feel something.
