Stephen Curry's Hereditary Athleticism

Improved Essays
Although Stephen Curry has clearly proven to be great, Russell is still far superior in his athleticism, finishing, and defense. In my perspective, I consider Westbrook to be the best point guard in the NBA. What really makes this fearless point guard stand out the most is his monstrous athleticism. He only stands at a staggering 6’3, yet he is capable of jumping over 37.5 inches in the air. This allows him to use his quickness and hops to maneuver around his defenders to get anywhere on the court. In addition, another attribute of Russell Westbrook that makes him the best point guard in the league is his deadly finishing abilities. No matter how big or small the defender may be, Russell has clearly proven that no one can stop him from finishing

There are many different beliefs towards what brings us to success. In The Sports Gene by David Epstein, it is explained that innate and physical talents are what allow people to succeed. In Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell explains that effort and practice is what brings us to the top. Epstein and Gladwell both put forth arguments about how much in our lives we control, however, based on evidence Gladwell definitely shows that effort and practice is what we control to make us our best, and he better answers the question, how much of what happens in our lives do we control.…

In most cases destiny is what will happen to you in the future. When it comes to controlling one’s destiny, we have total control over our mindset however our genes play a role in determining our destiny as well. Genes are transferred from the parent to the offspring that are held accountable to determine a characteristic of the offspring. Keeping that in mind, we tend to have little to no control over our genes. In The Sports Gene, David Epstein introduces the fact that “the longer (and stiffer) the Achilles tendon, the more elastic energy it can store when compressed.”…
