REXBURG- Stephanie Nielson, mother of four and survivor of a plane crash that burned 80 percent of her body, is scheduled to speak about journalism in the Taylor Chapel next Thursday, Oct. 15 according to the University Forum from byui.edu.

Christian and Stephanie Nielson were involved in a plane crash that killed Christian’s friend Doug Kinneard, according to ABC News. ABC News also said that “Medivac helicopters raced all three to the Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix,” where Kinneard died from his injuries.

Nielson shared heartbreaking experiences she had with her children after waking up from the crash. She told ABC News that her son, Oliver, was calm while her daughters had a difficult time even looking at her.

“She’s gonna tell her whole story, and that’s something we all need to go to,” said Delaina Scholes from the Communications Department.

Nielson is also the author of the popular blog NieNie Diolouges. The University Forums reveal that the title of her blog is a compilation of the last three letters of her first name and the first three of her last name.

While being unable to type and recovering in the hospital, Nielson had many supporters keep up her blog for her. ABC News said that tremendous support came from Nielson’s many fans who raised “a startling $250,000 . . . to help the

Nielson’s blog shows evidence of her faith and love for her family and friends who supported her through out her recovery.

BYU-Idaho’s University Forum said that Nielson will be addressing the topic of journalism in addition to her experiences regarding the crash. The forum also mentioned that “[Nielson] penned the New York Times Bestseller, "Heaven Is Here", her own inspiring memoir of incredible hope, triumph, and everyday joy.”

Nielson remains an inspiration to many, as evident on her blog. She received much caring and support from fans, friends, and family, thanking them and expressing her love multiple times on her blog. Nielson also shares personal spiritual experiences through out NieNie Dialogues.

Students of BYU-Idaho will be able to hear Nielson speak about her experiences with journalism, something that could be of great interest and importance to the school’s communications majors. It could also prove beneficial for those who remain undecided.

Evidence of Nielson’s strength through out the crash and healing process is present in numerous sources.
