It was the start of senior year for Stephanie Dawson. At 17 years old, Stephanie was ready to be out of school. It wasn’t that Stephanie was unpopular. In fact, she had loads of friends. She was relatively attractive and had a boyfriend that her friends envied. The problem was that Stephanie felt that there was something missing. She couldn’t place her finger on why she felt melancholy about her life.
Well, she lied about that. A part of her always felt disjointed. It was for one reason and one reason only. She didn't speak of it, only because it had become too painful to talk about. It was what lead her down the road to foster care. The parents for this year was the Sterlings. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the Sterlings.

“Touch me or screw me…” Stephanie asked disdainfully.
Larry rubs the side of his head, in frustration. “We’ll take about this more at lunch…” he walks up to their group of friends. Stephanie rolls her eyes. It was obvious, he was trying not to show they were arguing.
For the first time in a while, Stephanie did not participate in the chatter with her friends. She was more interested in the people that were coming in. The distance, she noticed Gabriel Gray in his car. She watches him while his mother tried to fix his hair. It was a habit she gathered, she had when he was agitated. He finally got out of his car. The woman also got out of the car. It appeared she was scolding him. Stephanie turned away, but not before noticing the crimson look on his face.
A few minutes later, Gabriel Gray walked passed them. Larry smirked when he saw them. “Hey, Gray! Was that your mom? Your mommy brought you to school...” The whole grouped laughed at him. Gray just rolled his eyes and continued to walk by. Before he got into the building, He tripped and knocked into Stephanie. Stephanie had grazed his hand and was about to respond but Gray talked

All the color drained from Gray’s face. Stephanie didn’t know where the sudden charity was coming from but Stephanie stepped up.
“Stop it, Larry,” she says furiously. “It was an accident.”
“I don’t need help from you…” Gray snapped. Stephanie shakes off the tone.
“Is there a problem here?” A voice says behind them. Stephanie turns around. A young girl, with pitch black hair, was a look at the group with disdain. “The boy said it was an accident. It was an accident, let him go.”
“New girl got balls…” Stephanie’s friend Madison said. The new girl smirked at Madison. This girl was obviously not from around here. If she knew Madison Kelley had a history of destroyed girls' lives she wouldn’t be smiling.
“My name is Sara…” The new coming replied. It was then Stephanie noticed how young the girl is. Thankfully, the bell rang. Stephanie grabbed her bag and her group of friends followed her. Gray looked relieved as he saw us pass.
“Are you ok?” Sara Winters asked the as of yet, unknown boy. She looked the boy over. He had dark hair, gangly, but seemed quiet.
Gabriel Gray looked at Sara curiously. “You must have a death wish,” he tells her. “No one takes to the popular kids like
