I believe the aim is to anyone who believes the stereo-typical idea that women are treated equally in the work field, when statistically speaking it is obvious women are not. She effectively shows by the statistical facts mentioned throughout the article, that she sides with one side of the argument. Never does she go back and side with the male side of the argument. She does give credit that males are taking on more house hold duties and parenting obligations then they once did but she also cites that women are still doing all these things plus earning money for the household. As stated in the article in paragraph 5, “The curtailment of such male entitlements and the expansion of women’s legal and economic rights have transformed American life but they have hardly produced a matriarchy” (Coontz). This takes a stance of being sided with the woman’s view. It’s almost as if she’s hammering the male
