A native of Haiti, Stephane is the first student in his family to graduate from college. He attended York College, City University of New York where he received his bachelor’s degree in community health with distinction as the first CUNY student to ever win the prestigious SOPHE Vivian Drenckhahn Scholarship Award in 2014. While in college, Stephane served as a Thurgood Marshall College Student Ambassador representing the college community in conferences in Washington D.C. from 2012-2014. Additionally, he was selected in the summer of 2014 from among 1,300 applicants to be on the 47 Columbia Public Health Scholars funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Stephane has a great interest in issues related to global health, health disparities, chronic disease prevention, and aging research. He also has an interest in improving the lives of underserved …show more content…

His goals in public health include designing health communication materials for minority populations; integrating community health workers in healthcare settings; and advance the field of health education through research and policy. In terms of his long-term goals, Stephane aspires to achieve the following: (1) build a Community Health Center in Haiti; (2) build Haiti’s first school of public health; (3) advance the field of global health through research, practice, and promotion; and (4) start a scholarship fund for students in Haiti and in the United States—which would allow deserving students to study and serve in impoverished communities and countries. As an undergraduate and graduate student, Stephane has won over 15 scholarships including one from the American Public Health Association
