Stem Cell Research Stem cells have been a factor in the scientific world since the 1800 when scientists figured out all living organisms are made up of cells; and some cells have the potential to create other cells, yet many people are still misinformed on the uses and great potential that stem cells posses. Most people who are against stem cells are not in favor of them because of the old extraction processes used but gladly science has found a new, more humane way to do so. Stem Cells can be used to regenerate dying cells and save lives by potentially curing diseases. The problem is stem cells are found in embryos of human beings and many people believe you should compromise one life to save another. Stem cells have the potentially to be …show more content…
Stem cells are a humane way to save a life. This is based on some ones view on where life begins, should you take a life to save another and does this put a limited amount of gods power into human hands; essentially they could give someone eternal life if we sometime in the future understand them better. “the goal of replacing dying cells in Parkinson’s disease with stem cells is now brought a step closer to the clinic” (Carson, Christian T). That’s the amazing feat of stem cells; they can be used to cure certain diseases, grow new organs for transplants and are the building blocks to all living organisms. If science can find a way to harness the power of stem cells we could potentially cure many diseases that we currently have no fix for just a way to prolong a person’s life with the disease. Why would we deprive millions of people of something that could save their lives and save their families grief? “In principle, embryonic stem cells can be expanded and then differentiated into most cells lineages of a living organism” (Carson, Christian T). When they say in principle this means it is not a …show more content…
They could be the way of the future and what doctors recommend first when looking to treat potentially fatal diseases. Many people would benefit from further Stem Cell research. Due to the new ways we can extract Stem Cells science is trying to make it so that everyone is on board and that no toes are stepped on during controversial debates. Right now this might not seem like something you or a family member could benefit from but just think about all the people out there who feel hopeless because they have to see a family member suffer and cant help; imagine if that was you wouldn’t you want to do whatever it takes to make them or yourself better? Stem Cells have the potential to do so we as a community just need an open mind to it and allow things to change because it could be for the

Embryonic stem cells, which are different from the iPSCs described here, have faced roadblocks in the form of government defunding their research and the general population raising concerns about the morality of using embryos for research. They also faced challenges when scientists became too optimistic, and hoped the stem cells would prove effectively therapeutic, rather than just a means to perform drug tests. So far these attempts have failed in…

The process of most stem cell research is executed is with the use of an embryo. According to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALS), “embryonic stem cells can be isolated from fertilized embryos less than a week old.” This process has caused some controversy throughout world and many have chosen not to support stem cell research because of this fact. Many people are disturbed by this because the researchers create a human life from an egg and sperm cell to create an embryo and then use the embryo for the stem cells only, then rid of the embryo all together. One would believe that this is murder because of the destruction and death of an early but yet still live embryo.…

Embryonic stem cells are stem cells derived from an human embryos that are around five days old and have the ability to reproduce through cell division as well as differentiate into any type of cell (NIH). Embryonic stem cell research has great rewards with the possibilities of cell based therapies and cures of more than ten life altering diseases, but also has great consequences of cell rejection and the destroying of human embryos (NIH).…

Personally, I want to fund it, but I don’t cause it’s like, you’re killing things (not babies yet) and technically they’re not alive yet, but you’re saving actual people’s lives. I understand the whole religious thing, but if whoever you believe in didn’t want you didn’t want people to invent stem cell research, then why did they allow it?
