Steinback Of Mice And Men Analysis

Steinback, in the story “Of Mice and Men”, suggests that as humans, most people are biased towards others to not only make the person being discriminated against feel miserable about themselves, but because we don’t feel good about ourselves either. In the story, the main characters are Lennie and George. George is intelligent, and a in-shape guy, but on the other hand, Lennie is a person that has a mental disorder that makes him act like a 5 year old, but he is tough and physically strong. In the beginning of the story, Lennie and George applied for a job at a farm, and they both got the job. After interviewing with the boss, they went to their cabin where they live in, and there is Curley a cruel, selfish, and nasty character. Curley asks George and Lennie a few questions, but George answers all of the questions and Lennie says absolutely nothing. This makes Crooks feel miserable about himself because of Curley’s wife saying that should could get him hanged real easily just because of his appearance (skin color). At the very end of the story, George shoots Lennie and kills him due to his mental disorder, and that also Lennie is very childish. But also, George has to take care of Lennie everyday and it must get tiring for George to basically have to take care of an adult who acts like a five year old. This ties back to the them because George kills Lennie just due to his disorder, even though Lennie can’t help
