I chose Stevia (Truvia) and back the alternative sweetener’s toxicological safety for consumer use. Stevia is a naturally sourced zero-calorie sweetener native plant to South America and has been used as a sweetener for hundreds of years. Stevia, as a plant extract, was initially used as a sweetener by Japan in the 1970’s. Today it is still used as a main ingredient. Acceptable daily intake (ADI) is the sum of a substance that you can take in food or beverages on a daily basis during your whole life without any risks to your health. I believe it’s a reliable resource because Dr. Margaret Ashwell OBE, PhD is the president of the Association for Nutrition.
