A status quo bias refers to an emotional bias; a preference for the current state of affairs. It is the one that affects the human decision-making. In a case study on abundance of choices in supermarket shelves, a question arises as to whether it is prohibiting customers from making more sustainable selections. In the modern world, sustainability has become a perception that has gone mainstream, where it is now a prospect rather than an exemption those organizations, globally and in small scale, have their personnel and labor directed end route for sustainable activities. Many people come to this conclusion mainly after they are faced with difficulties in making decision between various choices. The objective of the status quo bias entails that rather than setting customers free, it instead essentially locks them up by giving limitations and doubt to the existence of sustainable choices variety. Its causes are attributed to change and the fear of change amongst people. While humans embrace certain forms of change, status quo bias has remained a burden. To overcome this, people must be willing to learn to embrace change and willingness to explore more.
