Our day started like any other day, except it was not an ordinary day for us. My best friend and I were able to go to New York for two weeks. Our days there where the best, we got to do things we normally would not get to do in Texas. This day especially was one of the best. Our time there was unbelievable, that day especially I think it was one of our best days out of those two weeks. That day we started to get ready to go see the Statue of Liberty, we knew it was going to be cold so we layered up. When we were ready to go we looked up the subway route we needed to take to get there. Once we got there we bought our tickets and stood in line. The wait was probably one of the worst, there was a long line to get on the boat. Nonmatter how many people were getting on the boat the line didn’t seem to be moving. Which was where the twin towers memorial is located at. At first we were kind of lost but we overheard someone say they were also going to the memorial so we started to follow them. When we got there it was breathtaking, seeing all the names engraved and the flowers people left to their loves ones. It was such a beautiful moment and we got to see it and be part of it. We didn’t take a picture there to be respectful. After visiting the memorial we started walking towards the boat to get back, but we stumbled into a pizzeria and we decide to check it out, since all we have done is testing New York’s pizzas. Turned out it was one of the best pizzas we have eaten in those two

Confederate monuments are placed publicly all around America and, in recent years, it has raised dispute between people who support Confederacy and want the statues to stay; and people who do not support Confederacy and want to remove the statues. From New Orleans to Charlottesville, Confederate statues have dominated headlines and sparked a new debate in American society. A dualistic, more mainstream, and simplified representation of this issue posits one side that argues that these statues glorify those who espoused an immoral stance and ought to be taken down, whereas the other side presents the counter that these statues serve a historical purpose and educate society of a darker age. This is a boiled down version of the matter. This paper argues that the latter perspective lacks cogency on the grounds that the statues do not illuminate the history of the past, but rather glorify the Confederate cause, white tribalism, and white supremacy. A fundamental premise of this paper’s…
