It was hypothesized that: 1a) NF group will show little or no improvements in CRT scores compared to the MCT scores, 1b) There will be improvements reflected in CRT scores compared to the MCT in all feedback groups, 2a) EOT group will show the most improvement in CRT test scores compared to MCT scores than all other conditions, 2b) 1WD group will show an ineffectual decrease in improvement in CRT test scores compared to MCT scores when compared to the EOT feedback group, but higher than EOQ and 1MD feedback groups, and 2c) EOQ group will show higher improvement in CRT test scores compared to the MCT scores than the 1MD group.
Statistical test ANOVA will be used to assess differences in outcomes across groups, while post-hoc t-tests with Bonferroni adjustment will be used to determine where the differences lay.
Discussion
If findings support hypothesis 1a and 1b, it would indicate that provision of feedback does indeed show mnemonic benefit (Butler & Roediger, 2008) for retaining correct information for academic learning, and thus, strengthen the drive for provision of feedback after testing so as to minimize the misinformation effect (Butler et al., 2007; Brosvic et al., 2006).
A support of hypothesis 2a would indicate that information is better remembered when presented through spaced presentation as compared to mass presentation (Butler et al., 2007; Kulik & Kulik, 1988), with EOT feedback still being the most effective. Considering that ideally, feedback should…
