Station Lab

Lab/ Station Paper Last week, we had to do labs. I rotated with Scarlett, Callie and Mark. I dont remember all of the station names but I know there were 6 stations. The third one was called “ How many are magnetic?”. The sixth one was called “ The Maze”. The middle table was just a resting table. I thought i remembered the 4th station but Mr. Leavitt wont tell me. Staation 1 was to see how many paperclips would attract to the magnets. I dont know the teams hypothesis, but i wrote it down. We needed donut magnets, paperclips, paper, and a pencil. We put the magnets in groups, skip counting by 5. We then dippped the magnets in the box of paperclips, counted how many we got. Recorded it on pour paper. The more magnets we had the more paperclips. …show more content…
I know for a fact it involved a box of paperclips, big magnet. I believe the purpose was to see how many paperclips you would get with the magnet. My hypothesis would be ¾ of the box. I didnt get any result because we didnt get to get to the station. I would change the fact thay ypu have one magnet make it 2 magnets. They also had a triple balance beam. You had to measure the mass of the magnets. Station 3 “How many are magnetic?”. The purpose was to see how many of the 42 misc. Items are magnetics. Our hypothesis was 35 out of 42. The station required 42 random items, magnet, paper, and pencil. You had to use the magnet to see which ones are magnetic and which arent. Record data. The results were 21 out of 42. I think we got the results we got because some look magnetic but all werent, and we just took an estimate. If would change something i would do less magnetic items, but more items Station 4’s purpose was to see which magnet would take the donut magents across the string. We hypothesized the bar magnet would work better. For this station you needed a horseshoe magnet, bar magnet, donut magnet, string with donuts on it. First, use the donut magnet to see how far does it take it across. Then repeat step 1 for the following 2 magnets. Record data. Our results were wrong it turned out to be the donut magnet that worked the best. If i was going to change how many magnets were used i would add more

Amalgamated Laboratory A centralization effort initiative was undertaken by an urban health district as a means of reducing health care costs and in direct response to decreased provincial and federal funding to the district. It was determined that the multi-site laboratory would consist of a high volume core-lab and small stat labs at two acute care facilities. The merged Laboratory required the development of three new specialties: (1) the laboratory information system (LIS); (2) the accessioning, or order entry area; and (3) the call center which would handle inquiries. Within each section of a laboratory were supervisory personnel who acted independently under the general guidance of the institution's laboratory manager.…

In this experiment, we are using Calcium, Aluminum, and Magnesium to test our theory about periodic trends. We put these 3 metals through different tests to show why elements in similar group and period react differently. The purpose for this lab is to test the idea of patterns in the periodic trend, and if elements in similar group or similar period react differently due to the trend that they follow. If two elements in the same group or family are to be tested, one of the element reactivity will be slightly different from the other. This is the work of the periodic trends, the characteristics of an element atom change because of the element locations on the periodic table.…

While watching the students answer the questions, I noticed that several of them never lined up the paper slip with the bat or any of the other objects they were measuring. Their endpoints never lined up, causing them to incorrectly answer the first six questions. This lack of knowledge went to further diminish their conceptual understanding of how to take the third object and measure the first two objects to compare them. This lack understanding also affected their ability to correctly order three objects from shortest to longest. The mathematical reasoning was either a hit or miss with the students.…

The procedure on this lab was quite elaborate. To start off, the goal of this experiment was to be able to record the data necessary to calculate the acceleration of the “L” train using two different trains as trials. The way this was set up involved people standing at specifically measured locations along the subway stop given the task to time the trains start once the person at the front of the station raised the flag. Additionally, after the data was collected there was a person who would walk and record the measurements using a wheel and another who would accompany that person to collect the data on paper.…

Final Exam: 1. The quote, “Classroom management is 90% of the job. The remaining 90% is delivery of instruction,” means to me that good classroom management is needed, but you need to teach the students so they can connect to the science they are learning about. The room should be arranged nicely and clear, specific rules should be in place for the daily routine and housekeeping of the class. As their teacher, I should have high expectations and plan accordingly.…
