Static Electricity Lab Report

Improved Essays
I. Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is best understood by the principles of static electricity, as two rough objects rub against each other the atoms of those objects touch and pull upon each other sporadically. When this occurs the electrons of those atoms will transfer between these objects and static electricity is generated. This lab is performed to see the role that static electricity has on objects, when determining their charge and how they interact, all seen by a firsthand course of action. This process extends to determining the charge of objects with respect to this principle by the utilization of tape.
II. Hypothesis:
If one were to force a certain charge onto a piece of tape then they would be able to evaluate magnitude and orientation of the charge of not only the tape, but any object that they would so desire. Such as testing, the polarization of charge on

Adhere a 40 cm long piece of scotch tape to an even table.
2. On top of the previous piece lay down two 10 cm pieces of tape, and rip them off quickly.
3. Experiment with every possible option to the orientation of the tape, top to top of the tape, bottom to top, sticky to non, etc. Record the findings and then cancel out the charges by rubbing the tape in your fingers
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, but instead put another 10 cm piece of tape on each of the previous pieces so that is now double layered.
5. Now put together two 10 cm non-layered pieces of tape and pull apart quickly. Then repeat step 3
6. Next quickly rub a balloon with rabbit fur, this will yield a negatively charged balloon; test the charges of the tape (from step 5 and from step 2) by putting them against the negatively charged balloon. Record your findings.
7. Repeat step 6, but when doing the tests involving step 5, do the same procedures, but use tape that is measured to be 15 cm and 20 cm. Record the findings.
8. Test the tape from step 5 on the computer screen to determine the charge of the screen.

The purpose of this lab is to examine cross sections from the leaves of C3 and C4 plants and to determine the morphological differences between them while relating those differences to their metabolism. In C3 plants the carbon dioxide is first incorporated into a 3-carbon compound. Their stomata are open during the day and photosynthesis takes place throughout the mesophyll cells. In comparison C4 plants, the CO2 is first incorporated into a 4-carbon compound. Their stomata are open during the day and photosynthesis takes place within the inner cells.…

Comparison of the (EMS) 1rst Hypothesis: we believe that High Frequency has more energy than low frequency. Explanation: For this hypothesis, we found that our calculations were wrong and we tested this by using the electromagnetic spectrum: radio wave, microwave, radiation, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays and gamma rays. We went outside and made a simulation by walking and each group was one of the spectrums and we looked at how many more laps one group did than the other and we found that radio waves have the lowest frequency and gamma rays have the highest.…

Technical Review of Hydrothermal Formation of Calcium Copper Tetrasilicate Introduction Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to obtain close-up images of samples with depth enabling high quality, 3D depictions on a microscopic level. It has been historically used to identify samples of interest such as bacterial biofilm, microtexture surfaces, and even cancer cells for diagnosis.[1, 2, 3] The first high magnification SEM was reported in a journal in 1938 by Ardenne after developing the instrument after conceptualization; this instrument was novel for the time as it achieved magnification in an incomparable way to other traditional methods available at the time and eliminated the loss of light due to dispersion (chromatic distortion).[4]…
