Bachelorette: User Experience Design

Good Essays
I am Victoria Bowie and I am on my way to accomplishing a bachelorette in User Experience Design at Lesley University. From a tender age, I have always been fascinated with technology and my mind would fill up with thoughts on how I could help society for the greater good of mankind. Daydreaming about how I can make a change in the world and actions that I have made to help others has been happening since my younger days, even up till now. I was fixing computers at the age of eleven and creating web pages from the age of fifteen. When I reached high school, I thought I wanted to be more involved with mathematics and science by virtue of me enjoying it and also being really efficient on these subjects. In my head, I had it all planned. “I am …show more content…

I started thinking “Yes, I am good at this but, I am not getting the satisfaction I desire” I just knew that this wasn’t the way I wanted to help. Then I switched to child care. Thoughts filled my mind of this might be the step to what would direct me to my path because I love to spread my knowledge and show different ways to problem solve and achieve goals. Even though I loved doing these things, I soon realized that this too wouldn’t be the way. The day I realized what my true passion came to me like how a boomerang responds to it, owner. Technology has been calling me for a long time and I didn’t realize until now. One of the biggest forces that have influenced my professional growth is when I inaugurated into IT related functions with my current job. The atmosphere is filled with continuous learning and problem solving, and having the ability to show off ideas is a big part of my job and it is something I enjoy doing. When I 1st began, I had no intentions of really making this type of occupation a career. I was still in search of what my true passion was. As I dived into this new field I found that I was getting the enjoyment I have been looking for. Helping people, being creative and being able to share and implement my ideas. I began getting involved with development, and it gave me great satisfaction that something that I thought in my mind, manifested through me by applying the idea through technology; and now helps the people around me directly and indirectly. I loved combining the thought process of humans to the functions of technology. Bringing them closer together for seamless communication on higher and more productive level. My boomerang hitting me is the best thing that has happened to me, for it has opened my

I enjoyed hearing about different perspectives on details that I didn’t think about before. I always tried to implement the feedback that I received from all my sources, I understood that it only made myself and my writing better. More specifically, my overall take away from the creation and revision of these materials, was that the writer really needs to think about his audience, and the goals that the writer wants to accomplish. As an employer, I would want to hear from the applicant why his or her experience is relevant and specific to the work that my company does. Our use of shots matched the piece well, utilizing similar shots in the beginning and end and showing the story unfold, shot-by-shot. I believe the story is portrayed in an organized fashion and it ended up meeting the requirements. I think our use of a metaphoric lock and key added a unique twist to the original concept and gave my partner and I a bit more of a creative boost to add to our project. All in all, I am really proud of this piece and think we did a really good job for our first…

My experience in the passport project has shaped my understanding of learning and creativity by helping me to have insight into myself and my learning, to learn to overcome challenges, to set goals to reach certain targets, to think ahead to the future, to research efficiently and to find people and artists that inspire me. All of these things have greatly benefited me over the term and a bit that we completed our project because of the impacts that it has on me in my everyday life. I am finding that I am becoming more organised and willing to learn on my own accord rather than by being told exactly what to do by a teacher because of this project because I feel like I have been trusted to work well and responsibly.
