Statement Of Purpose: Vet Fast Program

Improved Essays
In high school, I have always kept my grades to a high standard which I will continue through college. The competition of being accepted into vet school will push me to strive for academic excellence. The University of Minnesota has a Vet Fast program that helps students complete their major one year sooner and I hope to be accepted into this program. This will take extra work but nothing that I do not believe that I cannot handle. My goal for college is to work hard to receive a bachelor in animal science at the University of Minnesota-Crookston and then be accepted to a Vet program.

Becoming a vet has been a dream of mine since I was little, and now that I get to start working towards that goal. I cannot wait. After I complete my education

William presents with a combination of physical, cognitive, and psychological symptoms. His poor coping skills have also made him susceptible to depression and drug abuse. Although it is evident that William’s situation is exacerbated by a type1 trauma brought on through his exposure to combat while in the Army, his readjustment issues are also perpetuated by a traumatic brain injury (TBI), as his symptoms include anxiety, memory loss and dizziness. Treatments options for William should start with addressing his socio-economical status as he’s been chronically homeless for quite some time. Exploring a veteran residential program that includes harm reduction as an evidence base practice, can be an incentive for William as he is still ambivalent about his drug use.…

There is a high demand for vet techs and it will continue to grow. Surprisingly there is a 36% estimated growth rate in this field from 2008 to 2018 (Job Outlook for Veterinary Technicians, n.d.). This is partially due to the lack of two year degree vet programs, which doesn’t supply veterinary clinics with enough vet techs, and from people leaving or retiring from their job. Once a vet tech graduates they are almost guaranteed a…
