Becoming one amongst the few and proud Marines of the United States Marine Corps has been a tremendous passion of mine ever since I was a child, and up until my high school career, my ultimate goal was to enlist. Upon starting high school as a cadet in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), profoundly instilled in me were pivotal leadership characteristics and traits, forging me into a leader as I grew with my unit. It has taught me the importance of discipline, unity, and respect for authority. While growing with the program, my aspirations and dreams were fed and grew as well. Rather than earning the title of United States Marine as an enlisted personnel, a fire burned within to seek to become an officer among these elite

Those of us in the military typically stay away from talking or speaking about anything religious driven as we don’t want to offend anyone. I personally think, that the way I understand how mankind is created in God’s image does not affect my vocation in any negative way. In this essay, I will use multiple examples to prove that, the belief in the image of God being a foundation to the Christian faith, and explain how this belief effects the way I interact with people of my chosen vocation. I will do this by using the Marine Corps as an example. One example of how we are created in God’s image, in my vocation is the way we dress and look.…

If I become an officer in the Navy I will continue to hold this view as I believe that an officer should always push himself and lead by example. An officer must know when to lead, when to follow, and when to stand aside. I learned this during a volunteer service trip rebuilding tornado stricken homes in Alabama. I realized that a leader only becomes a good leader when he, too, is following.…

I am also currently the only junior marine that has a secondary MOS which is 0933 Combat Marksmanship Coach. I am an expert on the rifle and a high sharpshooter on the pistol. I have also served my complete year time in grade, and have completed my PME prerequisites for promotion long before I was eligible for promotion. In conclusion, I am still not a PT stud by any means but I feel that I have many things that make me a well rounded marine and the potential, given the chance to be a great NCO. I have came far since the rocky start of my marine corps career…

    Marine Corps Values Essay

I’ve been a Marine Judge Advocate for over 17 years. I say that not to admit guilt but state pride in my duties and profession. Despite the well-worn clichés and easy cynicism about lawyers, I am an unrepentant leader of Marines who questions the Marine Corps approach to character development in our Corps and the oft mere reliance on the “Judge” to teach “ethics” to our Marines. We, as leaders, need to do more to make sure the character that takes command in moments of crucial choices is well-developed in our Marines and beyond reproach. I’ve seen a great deal during my military career, from petty and major criminal conduct to extraordinary demonstrations of integrity and courage, both physical and moral, under fire.…

At some point, every leader probably thinks about how they want to lead and what is important to him or her as a leader. During the CSC coursework, I wrote my command philosophy, which gave me an opportunity to reflect on past leaders I had encountered, and project how I wanted to lead in the future. The command philosophy was a statement, written to the members of the unit, about what I valued as a leader. As a foundation for how to approach this philosophy, the CSC coursework described USMC General Lejeune’s teacher/scholar leadership approach (USMC CDET, 2013a). This approach to leadership rests on a foundation of ethics, directly supporting an ethos of core values, mode of conduct, leadership principles, and leadership traits (USMC…

The Marine Corps has a written leader’s code, which I used as a guideline to make an honest evaluation of my team and my own leadership. We were able to improve our weak areas and exploit our strong areas. The Leader’s Code is, as follows: I become a leader by what I do.…

As Marines not only as NCOs or SNCOs but any rank starting to the most newest Private to the oldest General has to implement order and discipline to improve our rank structure’s future in the Marine Corps. Being that leader and mentoring in such ways will in fact save Marines from losing rank or capital gains that will affect that married non working mother of three or even that NCO mindset of a Lance Corporal. How are we showing our leadership towards our new Marines if we act in such manner? Eventually a student will act like his master.…

As I look back at my career, the experiences I have gained both as a pilot and a ground officer have provided a valuable experience base that I will continue to build upon as a Coast Guard officer. The most satisfying part being a leader is knowing I’ve had an impact on those around me. On multiple occasions I have had the pleasure of being asked to promote a Marine I once served with. On several other occasions I’ve received calls or text to be recognized by a Marine for being a big part of the reason for their current success. Those events are by far the most satisfying times I’ve had during my almost dozen years in the Marine Corps.…

In the three years I completed the program I worked my way up through the ranks to a sergeant leading a squad of seven cadets. My responsibilities included teaching them the basic Marine Corps knowledge and instilling discipline into them.
