Statement Of Purpose: Tulane Law

Improved Essays
I grew up on a bayou with a grandpa that hunted alligators and a mother that was a musician. From a young age I have been influenced by the rich culture of Louisiana. New Orleans was the first large city I visited, and Tulane was the first college campus I ever remembering seeing. I have since visited many other cities and schools, and feel that nowhere else is comparable. It is my desire to become a part of an academic community where I know I will be an engaged alumni for life. Tulane Law offers me that opportunity. I have met multiple graduates from Tulane Law who love the community and feel a special loyalty toward Tulane and New Orleans. I already love New Orleans, and I believe having ties beyond family make the idea of attending Tulane

Breaux Bridge, Louisiana is a rather small town lying in the Heart of Cajun Country. Home to less than 9,000 people, we are the definition of little interstate town. Sugar cane fields and crawfish ponds surrounded my high school, literally. Most of my high school friends generally stayed within the area upon graduation. Even though I decided to move for college, growing up in this environment made me the thriving young man that I am today.…

The early college program is a unique opportunity that allows “ students to extend high school by one year in order to earn both their diploma and up to 62 college credits from Muskegon Community College (MCC) at no cost to the student.” To me, the opportunity provided by mcc would help me achieve my goal of obtaining a phD in astrophysics. To be able to have earned an associate's degree will put me ahead of other students in both time, money, and college experience. Both in school and in my personal time i am a creative individual. I enjoy expressing myself through various artistic forms such as writing, drawing and cosplay.…

Many sociological causes influenced my decision to attend college and more importantly, Clemson University. Factors such as family, class, gender, culture, race and age all played major and minor roles in why I am here today. Ever since I was a child, Clemson always was in the back of my mind as the college I had wanted to attend due to family ties to the University. As I entered my senior year of high school, this played a major role as I only applied to two colleges, Mississippi State University being the other. Upon receiving my acceptance letter to Clemson, the choice was abundantly clear…

After I graduated high school a few years ago, I attended the University of Alabama for a short time before I decided that I did not want to be in school at the moment, and would rather work until I was ready to go back to school. Being in the small town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was a culture shock to me being that I was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington D.C., and then moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where I always had plenty of activities to choose from. Coming to Union College was not something I had been planning for a long time; it was very last minute and was a difficult decision to make seeing that I had already left college in the past, partial reasoning because I was not happy in a small town: I felt trapped. Ever since the year 2012, I have moved five times living in four different states—Alabama, Florida, Maryland, and Kentucky—which has been stressful for me to say the least. The move to Barbourville, Kentucky was not entirely easy, it was difficult to leave my family and move to a part of the U.S. that I had never visited before.…

It was love at first sight—only, I didn’t know it at the time. I flew into New Orleans the summer of my senior year to visit family, not to visit Tulane. I didn’t even decide to visit Tulane until I was in a Best Buy parking lot on Veterans Memorial Boulevard. The first thing that was really enthralling about Tulane was your generosity; it was clear to me, when I pulled up the website on my phone and found that we could get a discounted hotel rate for the night—the Hotel Monteleone was wonderful, by the way. I visited Tulane, got lost, was offered a free beverage and briefly fell in love with my very pretty tour guide.…

During my senior year at North Miami Beach Senior High School, I contemplated on where I would transfer to start my collegiate studies. I considered many different universities and colleges, weighing out the positives and negatives in attending each of them. However, there was one that remained as the most impressionable college: The Honors College of Miami Dade College. My older brother had joined the Honors College and continually remarked on how they changed his life and helped him grow both mentally and financially. He began speaking to me about the Honors College when I was a freshman in high school, and I worked tirelessly to be considered acceptance into this rigorous program.…
