Privacy is taken seriously in most business settings and confidentiality is very essential in the attorney-client relationship. However, while I was at a business dinner at Olive Garden last night, one of your clerks, Abigail Kemp, stopped by my table to talk.…

After I graduated last summer with a bachelor of science in anthropology I took a year off to work while I applied to nursing programs. To get myself some experience in the field I began volunteering in the Doernbecher Neonatal Care Clinic at the Oregon Health and Science University, where I helped the nurses by doing everything from soothing crying infants to folding laundry. I loved volunteering, but instead of reinforcing my goal to become a nurse I found that I was asking new questions and being faced with new problems I wanted to solve, and I began to realize that nursing would not be the best way to accomplish these new goals. There were so many happy moments, but there were also times I would arrive at the hospital to find that a baby I had held the week before had passed away, or realized that despite all of the hard work and seeming miracles the baby who had been born so premature would struggle with health problems for the rest of their life. Every year between 10-15% of infants born in the United States spend some time in a NICU, and I decided that what I really wanted to do was figure out why prenatal and neonatal health seemed to be such a problem and find ways to improve it.…

Positivity is a major factor in all that I do to the point of trying to view all things in a positive way and leaving the negativity out the door. As a mother, partner, educator, and entrepreneur I strive to be mindful, spiritual, and conscious of all my actions. I value these things because this is what makes up my life and what I live for each day. My life is a fourth generation person and I relate because I “want to live, love, learn, and leave it like a seed with balance and joy" (Covey, 73) the quality of my life is more important than planning it out.…
