Decent Essays
At my church, Queen of All Saints, there is a religious education program in which I was a student for eight years. It began in first grade and continued all the way throughout eighth grade. It began in October and lasted until April. Once I hit sixth grade I intended on being an Alter Server at my church. I had been an Alter Server for 3 years and it taught me many things such as having a greater appreciation and more understanding of the symbols of church. I believed that I have a deeper relationship with God and the impact of mass was more meaningful to me. With those new found feelings, I take it to my everyday life as well. To be more understanding and compassionate in the things I do. With one volunteering oppurtnity over, I decided to

Since attending Spelman College, I have evolved as a person mentally and socially, especially in my efforts regarding volunteering and the production of social change. Before attending Spelman and joining Lady Buds, a mentoring program for young underprivileged girls, I understood to a degree, how social change impacts people and their communities. However, after being a part of Lady Buds, my understanding of social change vastly increased, specifically how it affects the communities within Atlanta and on a larger scale our society. Upon entering Spelman college, I knew I wanted to be involved with a mentoring group, and while there was a multitude of groups to choose from, I decided on Lady Buds because their mission statement resonated with my goal before entering Spelman College.…

I, Abigail H. Reed would like to graduate early due to the need to begin working more and hopefully begin attending college. If I was to be approved to graduate early switch my career from fast food to the nursing home so I could begin bringing in more income to support myself. I have began my search for a college to become a special education teacher, with this being said, I will apply for S.E.M.O in hopes of getting accepted. Graduating early will give me the opportunity to get a jumpstart on my dream career and allow me to maintain the need essentials for living on my own. Graduating early greatly helps me, in my situation, allowing me to have more time to focus on the building of my education, rather than repeating or beginning classes…

Your college classes are filling that block right now, so for now, I think you are on the right track. Your ministry studies I believe will help you become a good mentor to those underneath you, to be a better listener, which will help you better take care of others, at work and in the church. Your people will learn from how you listened to and cared for them, and this will spread when those people use your experience when they help their people, no matter where they move on in the AF, long after they leave AFLOA. You are already good at reaching out to people, and influencing them, based on your PPS profile. Informal Learning Activity: The Andrews Top 3 presents quarterly leadership seminars that I believe can help you grow.…

I am really interested in participating in the Peer Ministry course at Ursuline Academy because I would enjoy the opportunity to lead retreats for the younger girls at UA, and help to guide them into leading righteous lives. My older brother has lead many retreats for his school in past years which have helped to not only guide the younger students into leading faithful lives, but it has also helped to shape him as a person. I really want to grow strong, like him, in my faith, and help to guide younger students to love the Lord and treat others with respect. I already have some experience in guiding students in their faith, because I teach CCD to kindergarteners at my church. A skill that I can offer to this school as a Peer Minister involves…

My passion to be a teacher in the Catholic school system has started a long time ago when I decided the teaching profession was for me. I was just coming out of my Catholic high school and I had made a decision to take a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, in physical education and biology with the end goal to become a high school teacher. It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success. " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.…

“Fisherman of Men” This final paper is something I have been thinking about for the past week trying to decided what I was going to write about what I was struggling with concerning the topics in which we have covered within the last eight weeks. I’ve re-read all of my papers and discussion board post, and I finally came to the conclusion that I feel very comfortable in what I have learned in this class. This versus has been something I have been praying over for the last six months Matthew 4:19 says “And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19 ESV) However what I am going to talk about is something that I have been praying over, and studying within Gods word over the six months, and that question is have a been called to be a just a active church member serving where me and my fiancée needed or is their a much higher calling in the form of a youth leader, a associate pastor, or a pastor one day.…

Each year my church takes me on a trip to take different workshops for dance, each year the workshop is held in a different state. Last year the class was held in Birmingham, Alabama. During the dance class I was asked to volunteer to teach dance in a nearby school to kids ages ten…

Growing up I've always had the challenge of understanding who I was and my role in the world as a Seventh-Day Adventist in a secular school society. Because of that, I knew that my experience as a student would be unique in terms of extracurricular involvement. For instance, being a member of the Cypress Creek marching band was a great part of my high school career but difficult in terms of compromising between my religious beliefs and my music interests. However, I learned a lot from my time within the organization that I can use those skills to serve my community. Continuing on with marching band became more and more difficult with each year to a point where it impeded on my spiritual growth because the investment to both parties were insufficient,…

My main goal is to shape young people into disciples filled with Bible knowledge and to help send them out in the world to witness to the unsaved. I plan to do this by combining the discipleship model and the ministry model talked about by Richard R. Dunn in his book, “Reaching A Generation For Christ”. He states that the philosophy of the discipleship model as, “The discipleship model trains students to be God’s people in an ungodly world, equipped with Bible study and prayer skills developed in a caring atmosphere with a view to reproducing their Christian lives in other” (175). This philosophy would be fulfilled by small groups or “trainings” held on a weekly basis. I would like to keep a very close, relational youth group.…
