Statement Of Purpose: Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School

Improved Essays
Heading into high school I had no idea what I wanted my future career to be. At the end of Junior High I had a choice, either to stay at my current academic school or go to Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High where I would learn a trade. I knew that when I decided to come to Pathfinder I could not sit in a class at a computer all day, and that I wanted to work. I knew I wanted hands on education, and I value hard work and accomplishing things by hand. My first day in exploratory for the Collision Shop I was immediately thrown on a vehicle to do a small dent repair and within the first 5 minutes I was already getting dirty. By the end of the week I didn’t want to continue to explore other shops, I knew exactly what I wanted.

Although my high school years are mostly defined through academic success, I would have to say my most meaningful achievements came through the North Carolina FFA. This national organization provides me with countless opportunities to showcase my leadership abilities in my school, community, and state. Obtaining the positions of Vice President and President of my high school FFA chapter has had an enormous impact on my life. These positions led to serving on nominating committees, planning community events, attending leadership conventions and conferences, and participating in a state-qualifying parliamentary procedure team. It was these experiences that gave me a passion for public speaking and Agribusiness.…

The year was 2014. I was a senior in high school, already I had committed to go to Colorado Mesa University, I had a track scholarship and I was going to major in Geology, ultimately wanting to go into petroleum engineering. The only thing was, I didn’t want to. I did not want to go be a geologist, I wanted to travel, to see the world! As cliché as it may have been, I dropped out, I worked for a period of time and sent myself on a trip to Europe to “find myself”.…

Free from all the extra attention and scrutiny from teachers, who did all they could to mold the freshman class into proper "Vincentians", I felt as though I could finally relax and have a regular high school career. It was a slow paced year where pressures such as ACT and SAT preparation, applying for colleges, and deciding your career path seemed so far away. As long as I remember, I have been on a never ending journey of discovering my talents and finding a career that would be most suitable for me to contribute to society. I was convinced that If just lived life the way I was supposed to and fulfilled my responsibilities, that it all would just come to me one day. Because of my assumption of how much time I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I found myself putting these important thoughts on a hiatus.…

My parents, facing many difficulties, had to make a choice: stay in Iran and attempt to survive the war, or immigrate to the United States to create a better quality of life for themselves and their future children. They chose the latter and, with much toil, travelled to the United States and began a new life. Growing up, a huge motivator in my life was the constant reminder of the sacrifices my parents had made. I have always tried my hardest to live up to my parents’ expectations; it only seems right, seeing that they left their lives behind to give me opportunities that they didn’t have growing up. I’ve made it a priority to repay them by dedicating my utmost to all that I do, but somehow my utmost is never sufficient and I feel that I am…

I’ll never forget the moments of watching all my friends being able to go to the playground and enjoy themselves as I would have to walk to a different classroom to my ESOL class. ESOL was an English practicing class, it allowed for students that knew very few English and was a method for us to learn and practice our English. Towards the end of the class as we all headed back from recess, or in my case from ESOL I would have a short time to speak and talk to my friends, and they would always ask about my whereabouts. I would try to explain to them exactly where I was and what I would be doing, and I knew that they did not fully comprehend me, yet I still tried. I would attend my ESOL class all throughout the third grade, by the beginning of…

My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it. I literally woke up one morning and said to myself “I think I’ll go back to college” and I made the call. I called the College of New Rochelle and made the appointment for the admissions test. And before I knew what was actually happening, I was a matriculated college student.…

When I picture my future, the most prominent aspect of it is my happiness. The most probable source of my happiness would have to be finally believing I’ve done something great, something generating that gratifying feeling of “I made it”. I’m very fortunate to be able to say that throughout just about all of my school career, I’ve always known I wanted to work in a business-related profession and achieve success. Knowing that I want to pursue a prosperous career in this field, I have involved myself in karate, business classes and accounting activities, and leadership programs, just about all made possible by the Gear Up IV program.…

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I wasn’t ready for college after I graduated from high school – I didn’t even now if I wanted to go to college at all. I was always somewhat “sickly” in school – lots of earaches and headaches. My parents took me to the doctors a lot – and I mean a lot – but the doctors could never figure out what was causing the problems. After high school, I wanted a fabulous job, money, independence and to live on my own in Los Angeles (the Big City.)…
